Auto Accident Chiropractic in Gastonia

person with neck pain after auto accidentCar accidents can hit your body hard, whether you were in a high-speed collision or fender bender. We have experience providing exceptional auto accident care at Bannon Clinic of Chiropractic, P.A. to help you recover and reach your maximum healing potential.
While the term “whiplash” is overused, neck and back injuries are the most common issues patients experience after a crash. During an impact, the body is accelerated forward thereby extending the neck. This is followed by a rapid deceleration (flexion) of the head and neck. This level of force will overstretch the ligaments and muscles thereby causing injury and pain.

Nipping Injury in the Bud

Your body responds to areas of stress by generating scar tissue, which can’t stretch, twist, or bend properly. If unaddressed, auto accident injuries can quickly develop a lot of scar tissue that may last years and decreased function with increased pain.

Old injuries are much harder to heal. Many patients who missed initial care during the acute phase of their injury regret it later, as they face years of pain followed by a much harder recovery.
Individuals that receive early chiropractic care have much better outcomes. Instead of ignoring pain or masking symptoms with medication, it’s best to respond quickly and initiate chiropractic care, before your overstretched muscles and ligaments are changed forever by the inflammation associated with your injury. By stabilizing your spine and joints, we can limit long-term issues like inflexibility and pain.

What to Expect

At Bannon Clinic of Chiropractic, P.A., we work directly with insurance companies and handle the paperwork for you. Our office accepts attorney liens. Your first appointment should take 30-60 minutes. Dr. Bannon or Dr. Katro will take X-rays if you haven’t had them already. Please bring any records from previous medical care you’ve received for your injury, as well as an accident report and digital discs or physical copies of any MRIs or CT scans.
The length of care depends on your health prior to the accident and the severity of your injury. Many average cases resolve within two months. Patients with significant injuries may require a more extended treatment regimen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in serious pain to see a chiropractor after an accident?

No, and waiting until pain becomes severe often makes recovery harder. Many injuries, including soft tissue damage and ligament sprains, don’t produce intense symptoms right away. Getting evaluated early, even if you feel ‘okay,’ gives your body the best chance to heal without developing long-term complications.

How soon after my accident should I come in?

As soon as possible. The acute phase after an injury is the best window for effective treatment. The longer inflammation and scar tissue go unaddressed, the more difficult recovery becomes. If you’ve been in an accident, call our office right away, even if you’re still sorting out insurance details.

Will my auto insurance cover chiropractic care?

In most cases, yes. We work directly with insurance companies and handle the paperwork on your behalf. Our office also accepts attorney liens, so upfront costs won’t get in the way of your care.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the severity of your injury and your overall health before the accident. Many patients with average injuries see resolution within about two months. More significant injuries may require a longer treatment plan. Dr. Bannon or Dr. Katro will give you a realistic picture on your first visit after reviewing your X-rays and health history.

Can I still see you if I’ve already seen another doctor or received other treatment?

Absolutely. Please bring any records, imaging, or reports from prior care when you come in. Having a full picture of your treatment history helps us build the most effective plan for where you are in your recovery right now.
